Open the map, pick a listing in your city, and agree a rate and a meeting point in that trade's own chat.
Go to the meeting point. Lock nothing until you are both standing there.
The seller locks the XLM or USDC for the buyer. From that moment the buyer can claim it, cash or not.
Hand over the cash. The buyer claims it on their own phone.
If the buyer never claims, the seller takes it back after 72 hours. Until then only the buyer can claim, so lock only when you are both at the meeting point.
02 · How it's safe
Nobody else is on the lock. Pairy has no key to it and cannot move the money.
Your key is made on your phone and never leaves it. If you use Freighter, it stays in Freighter.
The honest limit. Pairy protects the buyer against a seller who takes the cash and never sends. It protects the seller only against a buyer who never claims, not against theft.

03 · Why Pairy
On Telegram or WhatsApp, if the other side never sends, the money is gone. Pairy keeps the meeting in person and adds a lock that only the two of you can open.
Each step costs the Stellar network fee and nothing else.
